Katherine Muzik and her favorite research subject, Ellisella coral.

Coral expert Katherine Muzik will speak on “Coral Studies and Worldwide Environmental Collapse. Now What?” as part of the Summer Seminar Series at the Oregon Institute of Marine Biology (63466 Boat Basin Rd.) in Charleston.  Her talk takes place on Wednesday, July 10, at 4 p.m. in the Boathouse Auditorium.  It is free and open to the public.

Dr. Muzik, a biological oceanographer and director of Our Water Drop (http://www.ourwaterdrop.org/home.html), has studied corals and octocorals throughout the tropical Caribbean and Pacific, in shallow waters and deep. Retracing her path from science to environmental education to woe over the state of the ocean, she invites audience discussion to help her explore what to do in our crisis.

To reach the OIMB Boathouse Auditorium, park on Boat Basin Rd. near the campus and walk down the road past the Coast Guard housing.
